Founding Fathers
Do you know what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?
Remember they pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor.
Five were captured by the British as traitors then tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons, another had two sons captured. Nine died from wounds or hardships. Not a very pretty ending for such a valient group. But just who was this group?
Well Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. eleven were merchants. Nine were farmers and large plantation owners. These were men of means, they were well educated so they knew that if they signed the Declaration of Independence the pealty would be death.
Carter Braxton saw his ships swept from the seas. He sold his home to pay his debts and died in rags.
Thomas McKeam was hounded by the British and was forced to move his family constantly. He served in Congress without pay his possessions were taken and poverty was his reward.
John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she lay dying. For more than a year he lived in forest and caves returning he found his wife dead and his 13 children vanished and died from exhauston and a broken heart.
Thomas Nelson Jr., saw that General Cornwallis had taken over his home and he quietly urged George Washington to open fire. His home was destroyed and he died bankrupt.
These are just a few of the stories of what was the fate of the founding fathers. Was their sacrifice in vain? You must answer that question.

Book Club

This is the start of an adventure of rediscovering our past. To read the words of the founding fathers makes me shake my head as those words are just as relevant to todays world as it was, when written. Guess what.....the truth is the truth and never changes.
Were the Founding Fathers perfect? No, they were human and as humans we are ALL fallible and they were fallible. As the Bible says "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" However, they did their best to act in the best interest of their country. Now is our time to act in the best interest of our Country. Our country need informed, educated citizens.
I hope you are enjoying our study book "The 5000 year Leap". There are so many wonderful things to learn and appreciate about the founding of our country. And above all OUR CONSTITUTION IS NOT OUT OF DATE. The freedoms, brought about by the Constitution, that protected George Washington, protects us today.

9/12 Book club

So excited about the interest in a 9/12 book club. Starting with "The 5000 year leap". To get the lesson plan go to Theforgottenman.org you can download the plan.
Books to have starting with "The 5000 year leap", The Constitution, Common Sense, The Patriot's guild to History, The Federalists Papers. Guess that will keep us busy for a while.
An interesting side line is the possibility of starting a scholorship to get students studing our history and constitution. Something to think about.

The sun never set on the British Empire
I was watching the old film with Peter O'Toole "The Ruling Class" and thought about a time when the Sun Never Sat On the British Empire. What happened? Where did that Empire go? Are we seeing our own future, because we refuse to learn the lessons of the past?
The Brits took over the Bicycle Industry and today where are the pride of England the british racing bikes? Then the government took over the Auto industry, once thriving. I remember in the 50's all the wonderful MG's, Jag's, Morris Minor's, Austin and Jensen Healy's. One by one they were sold off to other countries and Now they are gone from Britian.
In 1947 England started the National Health Services. Today there are 800,000 people waiting for surgeries. Death Panels? NO. Waiting until it's too late? Yes.
Today how many of our Auto's are still left in the US? Remember the Pontiac? It's gone, so are many others. Now National Health Service, by another name, but as the poet said "A rose by any other name"
Now just announced a few months ago, one section of England will be allowed to practice their Sharia Law. How soon will we follow? Our great country once ruled by Laws. The same laws for rich or poor. This is our heritage, will we also see it changed? Will we still be Americans? Where is the melting pot where people came, and are still coming, from all over the world where they could have a chance, because we had one set of laws. They came like my grandfather for freedom and to become an American. He spoke German, my Aunt's parents spoke Italian, but they were not "German Americans" or "Italian Americans" they became Americans. Now everyone wants to split.
Where are the Americans? If we don't learn the lessons of history, we will be doomed to follow the same path. Will the America, the UNITED States of America become a footnote in history as so many others before us?
Only you can answer that. Learn who we are, what we stand for, insist on HONOR among our elected officials.

Health Care
I just wanted to share a story with you. While traveling through Germany, before the wall came down, we were driving along enjoying the countryside when I noticed the corn fields. It was really strange because the corn was getting shorter and shorter. The fields of corn had gone from well over my head down to even with my chest.
At this time we were on the highway that lead from West Germany into East Germany. Soon the highway narrowed and big fences appeared then double fences and gun towers. We were entering the East German sector.
I later asked why the corn was so much shorter in the East than in the West. It was because the central government governed over the farming industry. The government, not the farmer, provided the seed and the fertilizer. Not always when needed but when approved. This Health Care Bill will take away your personal initive to choose, they will choose for you, and inforce it. Maybe not today, but it will come.
Look at this bill and see that the IRS now will be in charge of Health Care inforcement. The government IRS will deem if your care is right.
I fear, like the corn, we will see our country shrink and we will no longer be the strongest country, no longer lead the world, but be lead. Also with the "Deem and Pass" we will no longer need a Congress or a Supreme Court. This government has already made them irrelevent by bypassing them. The Congress said no to Cap and Trade, this government simply by Executive Order passed it to the EPA.
Remember the Soviet Union said they would not have to defeat us, we would defeat ourselves. Will we become as so many other civilizations have in the past, rot from within. We have been that shinning city on the hill, let us not fall into the trap of so many others, let's be a beacon for the world.
Think, please think.

We've come a long way
Hopefully this will wet your appetite to read the 5000 year leap.
Think about it, for 5000 years civilizations have come and gone. Then along came 1607 in America. They were not much different than their forefathers down through the centuries. The used an axe by hand to fell trees and build their homes, a sythe to harvest their crops, spun wool on a wheel to weave their cloth and carried things on carts, drawn by horses or oxen, they died young. This is what the same as in the dark ages.
But what happened to change everything? Freedom from Kings and tyrants, suddenly the only thing that counted was the Law. The Law that applied equally be you rich or poor.
